Vicki Hetherington, Research Assessor

Vicki’s employment within the RESCUE Project commenced in July 2002. Originally assisting in data collection for Phase 1 of the project, she now works as Research Assessor in the RCT. The role of Research Assessor involves visiting the subjects within their own home, applying an ambulatory monitor, and administering various paper questionnaires and physical tests. She is also involved in the entry and analysis of the data collected.

Vicki graduated from Northumbria University in 2002 with a BSc (Hons) Health Development degree, and is currently working on a Master of Philosophy degree, supervised by Dr Lynn Rochester and Dr Alice Nieuwboer. The MPhil is expanding a test developed for Phase 1 of the study, which is designed to evaluate walking in complex situations. Within the MPhil Vicki aims to validate the test for use as a clinical outcome measure, which investigates specific deficits in people with PD.
