Sylvia is the Rescue project Business Manager. She joined the Northumbria team in February 2004, getting back into work following a serious car accident.

For the major part of her career Sylvia has been a Civil Servant working in many varied and interesting roles involving project management and finance, expertise that she now brings to the Rescue project. During her time in the Civil Service Sylvia had responsibilities as a policy member of the Department of Social Security Staff Benevolent Society’s Strategic Council, a registered Charity responsible for helping civil servants with financial problems. She has been actively involved in a Community Project in County Durham that provided much needed community facilities in an area of social deprivation. Since 1998, Sylvia has been a Justice of the Peace in the North East, dispensing justice as a Magistrate.

She is finding it rewarding to work on a project that offers the prospect of delivery of a real benefit to people.
