Cees de Goede, Research Physiotherapist

Cees de Goede is substitute physiotherapist and researcher for the Amsterdam arm of the Rescue project and has contributed to the development of the Rescue project.

He started his career as a physiotherapist at the department of Physical Therapy of the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam in 1977. He studied Human Movement Science at the VU University from 1995 to 2001, and received his Master degree. In 1995 he started a pilot physical therapy group treatment for patients with Parkinon’s disease. After receiving a grant from the Prinses Beatrix Foundation and the Dutch Parkinson Patients Association, he performed a Systematic Review on the effects of Physical Therapy for patients with Parkinson’s disease. In addition from 1997 until 2001 a RCT on the efficacy of a Physical Therapy program in patients with Parkinson’s disease was conducted, in association with the Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences of the Boston University in the USA. (Arch Phys Med & Rehab 2004, in press). As a physical therapist and researcher he is interested in the development of evidence-based physical therapy for patients with Parkinson’s disease.
